What Utilumo is
There are 174 tools across 13 categories, all listed in the tool index. Alongside them, Learn articles and Reference pages cover the formats and rules those tools work with.
Each tool does one job. There is no dashboard and nothing to set up before you start.
Why it exists
Search for a way to convert or format a file and you usually land on a site that wants the file uploaded, an email address, and a few ads watched first. Browsers have been able to do most of this work on their own for years.
So these tools do it in the browser instead.
How local processing works
Your file is read and written inside the browser tab. It never reaches a server, because there is no server to receive it: the site is static and has no backend that could process an upload. There is nothing to delete afterwards because nothing was stored.
Two things can use the network, and neither sends your data here. Audio conversion uses encoders bundled with the site, and falls back to an ffmpeg engine fetched from a CDN when browser codec support is not enough. Either way the work happens on your device. The REST request tester sends the request you build to the URL you give it, which is the whole point of that tool. Each tool page carries its own privacy note, so you can check a specific tool before you use it. The Privacy Policy covers what gets processed, and the Cookie Policy covers cookies and analytics.
Working this way has limits worth knowing. Large files are capped by how much memory the tab can use, and some jobs are slower on your own machine than they would be on a server. That trade is deliberate.
No accounts
Tools work straight away, with no sign-in and no free-tier limit. For jobs this small an account would only be there to collect something. Input and output are not stored. The privacy tools category covers tools for stripping data you did not mean to share in the first place.
Website and extension
The website is the full tool suite. The Utilumo Browser Extension is a separate product, published for Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
It handles a few things without a trip to the site: cleaning a link, formatting selected JSON, tidying copied text, redacting a screenshot. Its launcher can also search the catalogue and open any tool here. Nothing on the site depends on having it installed.
Learn and Reference
Learn articles explain the thing behind the tool: what EXIF data is, or why a PDF will not compress any further. Reference pages are lookup material you come back to, like HTTP status codes or robots.txt matching rules.
On topics worth the depth, the tool and the writing cover the same ground from different angles. The Editorial Policy describes how this content is written and reviewed. Datasets generated here are published under Original Research with their methodology.
Who maintains it
Utilumo is built and run by Andrej Fröhlich in Vienna, Austria. Full provider details are in the Legal Notice. Tools and pages get revised as formats and browser support change, and pages show an updated date where it matters. Open-source components are credited in Licenses.
